See your GP asap.

Iota · 11/04/2008 19:50

Go to your GP and get it checked.

It will probably be nothing importsnt, but get it checked

I have a lump - it is lumpy breast tissue, but I didn't know that until I had the mammogram and biopsy.

bobsmum · 11/04/2008 19:52

See GP.

It may be absolutely nothing, but you need to get it checked. I had this about 4 years ago.

Had a couple of biopsies and ultrasounds and the verdict was normal but I have v lumpy and bumpy breast tissue.

Hope everything is fine for you. It's worrying, but may be nothing.

Bubble99 · 11/04/2008 19:52

Lumpy pre menstrual boobs can be normal. But you need to get this checked asap.

brimfull · 11/04/2008 19:53

I am sure it is a benign cyst or something equally harmless. Most that are painful are.

I had a rash and lumpy type thing and I know how worrying it is but you know you must go and see the Dr.
They examine women all the time so try nit to feel embarrassed, there will be a female chaperone.

I had to go for a mammogram and everything was fine as it is for most women .

Phone the GP tomorrow.

bitofadvice · 11/04/2008 19:53

if he can not feel it will he still send me for a check?

Even the GP will be non-committal - they will simply refer you to the breast clinic. They probably won't even examine you. Don't let their demographic put you off.

If you have trouble making the appt, get a friend to make it for you. But go, on Monday.

cocolepew · 11/04/2008 19:53

Doesn't matter if GP's all all young males, they've seen plenty of breasts. Go to the doctor asap.

anorak · 11/04/2008 19:53

Yes go and get it checked. You don't need to tell DH unless it turns out to be something serious. And if that happens he will just have te deal with it.

Early intervention is a massive factor in breast cancer. Lots of lumps are harmless. Either way it's best to know, isn't it?

bitofadvice · 11/04/2008 19:56

thank you i will get it checked, i will be in for a long wait our gp gets booked up for weeks

OP posts:
Iota · 11/04/2008 19:56

I was examined by an old male doctor - I would rather have seen a young male

as Anorak says, early intervention is key, so do it - it's worth a little embarrassment

brimfull · 11/04/2008 19:56

you should be seen immediately if you tell them the problem

ScienceTeacher · 11/04/2008 19:57

Tell the receptionist that it is urgent (mention lump if you need to) - you will get your appt Monday. Don't be fobbed off.

bitofadvice · 11/04/2008 19:58

plus can i ask an other question?i have a lump in my side just under my left rib, again you can only feel it while i stand!

OP posts:
bitofadvice · 11/04/2008 19:59

so was thinking they could be nothing as they in diffrent places

OP posts:
bitofadvice · 11/04/2008 20:04

anorak · 11/04/2008 21:15

Get both the lumps checked. Breast tissue extends under the arm. Or it could be an enlarged lymph node.

bobsmum · 11/04/2008 22:43

My GP at the time fobbed me off - couple of weeks wait etc etc.

I panicked and went to A&E in tears. They were fab and reassuring and I by passed the GP altogether.

Might not be the ideal move, but at the time I wasn't thinking straight.

pinkyp · 11/04/2008 22:50

I never checked my boobs till a few weeks ago and felt loads of lumps and bumps! How are we suppose to tell if we have a lump? if i think i have a bump i feel for one on the otherside, chances are u wont have 2 matching lumps (unless there normal) lol xx
