Would this be contagious?

Hi all,

I have recently started using Mumsnet (literally this weekend) and had great advice thus far!

This may sound OTT but looking for some advice on this.

I am due to see a friend later for dinner, she was in Bali last month and has been having tummy trouble since back. She also had a fever and sore throat, which cleared. But told me a few weeks ago the tummy troubles remained. She did say the other day she feels better but didn't go into specifics!

I have an autoimmune disease and also a stomach condition! I am also on medication for my immune system which can lower immunity! I am worried that if she has something such as an infection or parasite, I could pick this up from her, especially given my medical history!

Can anyone advise? Am I being OTT?

She needs to speak to the Dr. They can send a stool sample for diarrhoea after travel outside the U.K.
It could be contagious if she is preparing the food, you sip the same straw etc if eating out I think it will be fine.

@ItMustBeNiceToBeQueen - it's a smallish restaurant so we would be using the same toilet etc 🥴🥴

She should get it checked out if it's she's not better yet, there are some nasty flu like bugs in other countries that might be air borne, apart from the usual food poisoning type bugs, which could be passed by contact.

I might be tempted to cancel if you have immune system problems, or
re-schedule for when she's fully recovered.
