11 year old period pain but days into her period?

My 11 year old started her period 3 months ago. She never complains on first day. She started Tuesday night and is still bleeding, and is complaining it hurts. It comes and goes. Have her a hot water bottle but I don't know what to give her? Would nurofen help? Is it unusual to feel cramps today when it started Tuesday night? Not sure how to help? Thanks

Yes definitely nurofen or paracetamol to help.

NuffSaidSam · 12/07/2024 22:48

Of course give her some painkillers!

Hot bath can be very soothing too.

summeroccupation · 12/07/2024 22:49

Paracetamol and ibuprofen per the box. Ibuprofen reduces prostaglandins so can help to reduce bleeding too.

Basically whatever you'd do for your own period pain, do for hers!

MavisPennies · 12/07/2024 22:51

Ibuprofen & hot bath work for me. I have pain for many days not always the first day.

Bathbombin · 12/07/2024 22:53

She’s faking it

ForKeenDeer · 12/07/2024 22:53

Thanks. I've given her children'a paracetamol and she has a hot water bottle. It's horrible. Feel sorry for her,she has had long days at school, sports days and all sorts..she is tired and now has period pain..she has coped so well for her young age.

She’s faking it

Why on earth would you assume that?

birdling · 13/07/2024 20:44

I always used to get pain on day 1 and day 4.

Slavica · 14/07/2024 10:23

When I was a teen, I used to get pain on day 2 and day 5, cramps in my abdomen and radiating into my thighs. It's horrible. For me, ibuprofen always used to work much better than paracetamol.

fairymary87 · 14/07/2024 10:58

I have terrible cramps throughout, everyone differs help her

Bathbombin · 12/07/2024 22:53

She’s faking it

Why? I don't get any pain on day 1
Day 2-3 are the worst and I have pain all the way through until it finishes

longdistanceclaraclara · 14/07/2024 11:46

Why would she be faking? Just give her some painkillers.

summeroccupation · 14/07/2024 15:07

My period as a teenager was awful - really painful, clotty and vastly unpleasant. They often are!

MargaretThursday · 14/07/2024 22:30

DD2 gets what she describes as shooting pains on about day 3.

spikeandbuffy · 14/07/2024 22:31

You could get a plug in heat pad, Amazon have loads and they're really comforting

RookieMa · 14/07/2024 22:41

My DD had this and ibuprofen didn't help neither did Co-codamol or naproxen

She was given the pill which eventually sorted out the pain

RookieMa · 14/07/2024 22:42

She used to take lots of days off school due to the pain

Hot water bottles made no difference

RookieMa · 14/07/2024 22:43

Once DD was prescribed the pill around age 14 the pain finally went

nildesparandum · 14/07/2024 22:47

I do feel for her.I suffered from painful periods from the day they first started. It was such a long time ago that I ave forgotten what pain killers I took (I am 80 now).I got diarrhoea and vomiting and pains in my thighs as well. Childbirth did not cure it.
Thanks for the menopause! The only thing that stopped it.
