Pea sized lump under ear

I felt some soreness around my ear so I rubbed just underneath my ear lobe and there is a sore pea sized lump there.

I thought it may be a lymph node but from the diagrams I have seen, it doesn’t look like there are any lymph nodes in this place, but I could be wrong. Also are they generally bigger than pea size?

It might be a sebaceous cyst or any number of other things, so make an appointment for someone to look at it.

It might be a cyst I get small ones on my earlobe which I squeeze out…I know gross and not recommended!

DD17 has a lump in what sounds like the same place (posted about it the other day). From what she says, which is a bit unreliable, hers doesn't hurt (at least not now, but vaguely said it might have when she discovered it about a week ago) and feels like a hard ball. She seems unconcerned and I don't want to panic her by questioning her further. However, I've googled and agree it doesn't look like there's a node in that exact location - they seem to be higher up behind the ear or in front of the ear but who knows? I will drag her to the GP when we return from holiday but please do post if you find out anything in the meantime! Thanks x

I went to the walk in centre last night because I started to feel unwell and I’ve been given antibiotics for an ear infection. He seemed to think it was a lymph node but said if it doesn’t go away within a week to get checked out again. For me it’s very painful though, even without touching it the area is sore

Hi what was it in the end? Just found one on my daughter and can’t help but worry, doctors told us to go back in two weeks if it’s still there for paediatric referral.

My daughter had similar in the area behind her ear. Was there for a couple of weeks then gradually got smaller and smaller until it went. I do remember pouring over endless diagrams of lymph notes around the ear at the time though!
