Vaginal bleeding (TMI)

At the start of the year I had a colonoscopy and hysteroscopy for something else. All normal.

I started my period 11 days ago and it finished a few days ago. Today I have the usual mucous discharge but it has blood in it. I’m completely panicking and have GP appointment next week.
Are there any benign causes as I’m panicking?

I wouldn’t panic if it’s the first occurrence there could be a number of causes. Infection, inflammation, (early) ovulation bleeding…or just one of those random things. It isn’t necessarily an indication of cancer.
I hope the GP can offer some reassurance to you.

Please don't panic. There are tons of benign causes. I have had bleeding between my periods (every single month, and often quite heavy) for 5+ years. Nothing has ever been found. If you've had a hysteroscopy and you're up to date with your smear, it's almost certainly nothing.

Many women get ovulation bleeding sometimes, which is normal.

Believe me, when I tell doctors I get my period, then get another bleed in the middle of the month (which can be as heavy as my period) they are never concerned. Especially as I've had a hysteroscopy too. They just say it's hormonal. If you're below menopause age then you're fine.

I imagine it's alarming if you've never had mid month bleeding before but I barely take notice any more.

echoing what pp have said, please don’t worry - there are many causes for this but of course the right thing to do is get if checked out. How old are you OP? I have had similar bleeding for probably 6 years now and had every test/scan (incl full MRI) going and there’s nothing sinister. I have a cyst (which they’re just monitoring), endometriosis (which I’ve had for decades) and am peri menopausal so they’re just putting it down to that. Try not to worry x
