Foot problems - shoe choice

I am having a dilemma and don't know what to do. I recently went to a podiatrist on the NHS as I have pain in the ball of my foot and numbness in one of my toes. She recommended I get new trainers (Brooks) with a wide toe box and gave me orthotics to wear.
Her diagnosis was capsulitis of right 2nd metatarsal head and interdigital neuroma.
I have purchased two pairs of trainers in diffrrent sizes. One pair is too big without the inserts but fits woth the inserts in. The other pair fits well without the inserts but when the inserts are in slip on the heel because of the foot being raised up. I cant wear the inserts full time straight away as need to build up use of them. So I just dont know what to do. And cant afford both pairs as they are £135 each.

What would you do?
