3sickness bugs in 6 months

I’ve had 3 violent sickness bugs since the start of the year and I’m wondering why I keep getting them? They are always brutal, come on so violently and I will heavily vomit every 30-60mins for hours all through the night. TMI but sometimes I will heave into the loo 20 times in one sitting, even when there is nothing in my stomach.
it’s really starting to get to me mentally- I keep a clean house, I wash my hands all the time, and now I’m conscious about touching anything, letting my kids touch anything. I’m just done with it and I don’t want to get them anymore. My body takes days to recover. Then you have the clean up as I’m desperate not to spread it- constantly wiping door handles, cleaning bathroom, washing bedding. Then 2months later it’s back.
this is more than a rant than anything!!

You are probably picking it up outside your home rather than at home. Other people’s hygiene standards can be shocking.
Shopping trolley handles, chip and pin machines, door handles -all filthy.
I haven’t been ill now since covid started as I’ve kept up the use of hand sanitiser when out. I don’t care if I look like a loon. I work in a public facing role too, but I just constantly sanitise, and never touch my face unless I’ve washed my hands.

AntiHop · 10/07/2024 07:42

Sanitiser doesn't kill stomach bugs, you need soap and water.

AntiHop · 10/07/2024 07:46

Sympathies, op. Stomach bugs are horrendous.

Did anyone else in your household catch them? If they did not, I'm wondering of it is something else and I'd see your gp.

TheShellBeach · 10/07/2024 07:47

That sounds like a form of migraine.
Go and see your GP.

I have 2 young children, one of them has had nothing this year, one was sick Saturday but only twice and he was happy and wanting to eat and play so I figured it wasn’t anything too bad. Im guessing what I had last night was picked up from him. If they are bringing stuff home from nursery etc, you’d think they would get poorly too. I’m glad they don’t, but I just don’t want it anymore.
Husband had a bug few months ago, he never seems to get it as bad as me though,
vomits maybe 3-4 times then just sleeps. I will be up for 6-7 hours and then I can’t sleep because the sicky feeling is just too strong.
Thanks @TheShellBeach that’s very interesting to read. I can’t think what would cause it but I guess it sort of fits.

Current covid causes vomiting too just to say...
Hope you feel better soon!

Louu247 · 11/07/2024 10:11

I’m currently going through this now, absolutely awful!

Shleepymummy · 11/07/2024 14:18

@Louu247 sorry to hear this. They’re just brutal. I am no longer being sick and the nausea feeling has nearly gone but I feel so so drained, ache, feel like I have been hit by a bus. I can’t seem to rehydrate no matter how much I’m trying to drink. Absolute wipeout! I just kept telling myself every hour it would be over soon, these things only really last 24 hours, sometimes bit longer but it does end.

Hopefully only a 24 hour thing, I am sick of being ill I’ve acually forgot what normal feels like

@Louu247 me too! I’d love to know why. I’m tempted to make a GP apt but I don’t even know what to say…..I keep being sick every few months. Doesn’t seem like a problem they’ll bother with

It may be something that can be treated and as you've been so ill with it, I'd definitely go.

Shleepymummy · 11/07/2024 22:15

@TheShellBeach i think I’m going to. Even if just normal stomach bugs, why do I keep getting them? I can’t do it again, it’s starting to make me go do lally
