Joint pain after vomiting bug

My daughter had a vomiting bug a couple of days ago and I caught it. Started with V&D last night. That's now stopped (although I haven't tried eating yet which might set it off again!) but I have awful tiredness, pain in my legs, hips and knees and a lingering mild temperature (38.2)

It's been years since I had any kind of a vomiting bug, is it normal to get this leg and joint pain?

Totally normal! You might feel a bit fluey and achey for the next day or so.

Totally normal.

Thanks! When I was a child I'd just be sick then get better and that was it. Now a simple bug seems to be a whole body experience. Feels like I've been kicked by a mule!

I get that after a viral infection. It’s a sort of reactive arthritis. Fortunately short lived in me-hope it is for you, too.

Viral illness and also covid can cause it. Many people with covid found that old injuries flared up. Yes, covid can also cause D&V, but more likely to be a gastric bug. Try keeping your fluids up and analgesia for the pain and fever.

I get this after viral bugs too, my joints feel all stiff and achy, especially my knees and hips. DH gets it too, we always say "ooh the colds gone straight to me bones"

I had this when I had something like noro/horrendous food poisoning. Lasted a whole week. Paracetamol helps the aches and temperature. Feel better soon

Look up parvovirus (slapped cheek), can be awful for adults and causes significant joint pain and weakness.
