Weird periods at 34

For a year now since I was 33 (now just turned 34) my period has been strange.

My periods always lasted 5 days max, but after a stressful time in my life, stress to the point of anxiety attacks and sleepless nights, I've started bleeding between periods. The said stress has died down a lot mostly but it seems things have changed in my body for good.

Every cycle for the past year, i've bled for 2 weeks. Its mostly not too heavy, and then around the time my period should start around CD28, it gets really heavy for a few days and trails off.

I've had an ultrasound, and apart from a slightly thickened womb lining, everything else was reported 'normal'. The doctor didn't seem too concerned. I also had a clear smear test recently and the doctor checked everywhere around the cervix due to the unusual bleeding.

I'm not on the pill, not having sex, so really don't understand how my period and hormones can be one way one month and then change the next and continue to be off.

I'm bleeding for 2 weeks a month now, and just last week had what I expect was my 'actual' period after a week of spotting. Around Friday/Saturday, I stopped bleeding. But after a very stressful upsetting weekend for me, I'm now spotting/bleeding AGAIN on CD7.

Has anyone else had similar happen in their thirties? I haven't had children yet and really anxious and panicked that this is something that could affect fertility. Pressure to have children when I'm currently single can;t be making the situation any better!

It could be peri menopause? Endometriosis? good that tests are coming back clear though. Could you look at freezing your eggs?

I would get checked for early menopause. This happened to a friend of mine who was fully menopausal by 38. She was largely ignored by doctors until she went to a specialist. Good luck.

Been going through this since I turned 31, now 35, so a while. No answers. Had ultrasound, smears, hysteroscopy and finally a coil. Now bleed for around 2 weeks each month, 3-4 weeks “off”. Spotting here and there too.
its horrible so you have my sympathy! No one knows how upsetting it can be, so hope you’re ok.
