Dentist checkup tomorrow and expecting the worst

Is there really no dental topic?

I've been ignoring the dentist for at least 5 years. When I chipped a front tooth crown recently I admitted defeat and have seen my dentist (private) twice about the crown and also been to the hygienist once.

This is my first full checkup in years. I have some heat/cold sensitivity in top molars so suspect will need at least two fillings there, one on each side. Bottom molars, two are filled, one fully rebuilt after being broken, one missing, so I hope not much needs doing there. I had a lot of dental work as a child (related to the above mentioned crowns) and absolutely hate it. Please reassure me it won't be that bad. There's a reason I've been avoiding it for so long.

Remember that a list doesn't mean you have to have it all done instantaneously. I have negotiated with a dentist more than once based on necessity vs money I have to spend.

I've gone from a £15k quote to £3k to save all my teeth. It's still a lot of money, but far more manageable (but not until after the summer!). That's based on solely keeping them healthy, not making them a Hollywood smile though.
