First ever herpes outbreak.. help!

So I’m about a week into my first ever oral herpes outbreak. Without sounding dramatic it’s been nothing short of awful!
The ulcers in my mouth are starting to heal apart from a few on my tongue that are still sore.
I had a small sore on my lip which has nearly healed but I stupidly, before I knew what it was, touched the sore and then touched an area of broken skin on my chin.
So hey presto! I have a huge one on my chin too.
this is by far what is bothering me the most. It’s formed a huge thick yellow scab on it which sticks out like a sore thumb!
I’m taking anti virals but I think started them too late. My question is- do I leave the scab and hope it falls off soon or is it best to soften it?
I really want to get rid of it but no sign of it improving yet and scab seems very well attached still.
Any advice very welcome!
Thank you

What antiviral are you taking and what dose?

You poor thing, herpes attacks are awful.

@Wowzel it really has been!
I’m taking Aciclovir, 400mg three times daily. Started it on Friday afternoon
