Postpartum Thyroiditus

Anyone experienced this?

I have postpartum Thyroiditus and it's causing quite a bit of pain on swallowing.

Strong painkillers aren't even taking the edge off.

I have an under active thyroid anyway and I'm taking 50mg of Levo daily and since giving birth 2 weeks ago my Thyroid Goiter has doubled in size.
Doctors have requested a scan and blood tests but today the pain has tripled.

Anyone else experienced this and what treatment did you receive?

Me, I had this. Only diagnosed because I'd googled my symptoms and insisted on being tested.

Started overactive, went underactive, then gradually righted itself until levels normal. I felt so awful, you have my sympathies.

I'm not sure how the illness will process if you have pre existing thyroid problems.

Are they regularly monitoring your levels?

I've just been diagnosed with PP Thyroiditis and I feel awful.
I'm currently in thr overactive stage but wondering if I am switching to underactive @ZippyDenimBear how did you know it had changed? I've gone from having horrible hot flushes to being freezing this evening

Hi- I don't think I knew I had it until it switched to under active. Awful. Crushing lack of energy with a tiny baby to look after.

I hope you feel better soon. It almost always corrects itself within a few months and you should gradually start feeling better in a month or two.

Until then, seek any support you can get and rest as much as possible.

@ZippyDenimBear thanks so much for replying. I've been feeling very lethargic for the last few days now. I feel like I'm dragging myself around now thus intense cold this evening, wondering if I'm dropping. I'm waiting on an urgent appointment with endocrinology as my TPO antibodies are >1300 not really sure what this is an indicator for
