Kidney Stone pain

Hello

Soooo, Im almost certain i have kidney stone pain

Its cramping, and coming in waves of moderate pain (over where my kidney is)

My question is, are kidney stones that are causing pain sometimes still passable?

My issue is, i have low kidney function due to kidney disease anyway, i cant really take painkillers or have a scan with dye (both will send me into total kidney failure )

I really want to keep hold of the small bit of function i have left

So it is possible to pass the stone at home, have you? obviously if im in agony/ cant pee i will go to the hospital but anyone passed painful kidney stones at home?

If your kidney function is that precarious normally & tou think you have a stone you need to get medical advice asap. If you have a stone that’s obstructing one side or that gets infected it will make the kidney function worse, possibly unrecoverably so.

I get kidney stones often as a result of 2 medical conditions. I've never had a problem passing the stones. It's uncomfortable but manageable. The painful part you're describing now is the stone leaving the kidney. That part is horrific and you have my sympathy!

I ended up in A&E when my last kidney stone was passing . The pain was worse that giving birth. I’ve been told to go to A&e when I think my stone is passing as large stones can cause blockages and may need operating. Currently waiting for shock wave treatment. I have private health care which has helped in terms of accessing the consultant quickly.
