I suspect my child may have a gluten intolerance/allergy and will be requesting blood tests with my doctor next week.

For those on here with coeliac disease (or someone you know) can you please share your symptoms and diagnosis stories please.

Very extreme weight loss. I am 5ft 5in tall and at the worst dropped to 7.5 stone although I was eating loads. This and headaches, mouth ulcers and chilblains. I only had very mild abdominal issues, bizarrely.

DH has just been diagnosed 2 weeks ago, age 46.

His main symptoms were aches/pains all over his body and the two that made him visit the Dr were ulcers/severe thrush in his mouth and constant headaches/shooting pains in his neck.

In hindsight he also has other symptoms such as getting up in the night further toilet, mood swings, pins abdominal needles and pains in his extremities.

He doesn't get sickness or an upset tummy at all though.

I got diagnosed in my 40s. Only symptom was bloating so I had a blood test and then an endoscopy.

Apileofballyhoo · 29/06/2024 23:18

Constipation, wind, low weight, swollen protruding stomach.

Severe bloating and abdominal pain, weight loss and what turned out to be acid reflux which made me feel full all the time even though I was hungry

My daughter was diagnosed age 5. Only symptom was that she would go the toilet and often had loose stools and complained of stomach pains. Diagnosed via bloods done by paediatrician at hospital. I suspect I have issues with gluten too as I go for long spells strictly not eating it but when I do, mouth ulcers start up.

I have gluten sensitivity, if I eat gluten I’m very tired, I will literally lie hungry and thirsty but not get up to get myself anything. My bones burn, I ache muscle, skin, hair follicles, I get bloating, diarrhea, brain fog, burning feet, nausea (esp in the morning). I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, but it turned out to be bad gut bacteria (SIBO) which resulted in the gluten sensitivity. I hope he feels better soon. For me, antibiotics and cutting out gluten made 100% better with two weeks. After years of hell, it was such a dramatic turnaround. I think for celiac it can take longer, but if gluten is the cause you can sort it. I don’t miss it at all because I know the consequences.

Thanks all, definitely a mixed bag of symptoms

My daughter has bloating and will complain of indigestion, sore tummy’s and is also very windy! She also has what looks like hives on her hands, will definitely be requesting a blood test.
