Magnesium for migraine

WolfStar · 26/06/2024 22:21

I’ve just started taking this, 250g per day.
Really hoping it will help my hideous migraines and also improve my sleep.
Any positive stories… and how long before you saw results?

Some Google searches have told me it could take 3-4 months to see results… which seems like a ridiculously long time!

Anyone got any wisdom to share?

I can't remember how long it took to work, it was over a decade ago but magnesium totally changed my migraine riddled life. I think I was up to 500 or 600mg before it worked, but it really did. A few years later I became pregnant and then my hormones seemed to fix my migraine issues and I don't really suffer any more than one every month or two. Good luck OP.

I've been taking it daily for about 6 months and I honestly believe it works. I also take well woman max vitamins as they have co enzyme q10 and fatty acids which are good for brain function. I'm now able to manage my migraines with triptans and painkillers instead of spending days in bed in agony and being sick. I've recently switched to magnesium glycinate as that is supposed to better. I do need to work out quantities though. I use the dolovent supplements as a guide. Really hope it works for you too.

Thanks both and good to know it’s helped!
@Portish I tried Dolovent for a week and I felt really odd and ended up with the migraine from hell. 12 hrs of nonstop vomiting. Could have been a total coincidence / something else but it’s put me off a very high dose. That’s the problem with migraine, so hard to nail down your triggers! And I’ll do anything to avoid an attack as it’s so awful.

It works for me. I take at night, when I do get migraines now it’s because I’ve missed a few days in a row - I think it’s a life changer.
