Missed dose of nitrofurantoin - will it still work?

I started nitro on Monday but missed Tuesday mornings dose (4th tablet) as I had to get some side effects checked at Drs and make sure I could still take it. It was fine and I continued Tuesday afternoon. Uti had initially improved but now it seems to be creeping back a bit. Slightly concerned as I only have 4 tablets left to take and thought it should be gone by now.

Continue taking as normal, see how you are after they finish. Sometimes 3 days isn't enough, although that is the guidelines.

Drink loads of water and get some of those sodium citrate cystitis sachets if you haven't already.

@RagzRebooted it says on the leaflet not to take the sachets with nitrofurantoin unfortunately. I initially did and it made me have really bad nausea. I do have probiotics and dmannose though so hopefully they will help too. Gp has sent a sample off for culture so hopefully will hear back from that soon and will know what I'm dealing with.

DH has just been prescribed this and he just can't function it's made him feel so ill. I've said speak to Dr but doubt he will have, he's now refusing to take the tablets

@Tara336 it's usually one of the more bearable antibiotics for me but it's different for everyone. Your husband should probably just get a different antibiotic from the Dr.
