Hair loss in teenage girl

My 17 year old is really shedding a lot of hair.

She has previously had a blood test which showed up low iron and she is on a course of iron pills, retesting after 3 months.

She has been back to the doctors again today and will have further tests including thyroid function.

It's falling out generally so she doesn't have bald patches as such just general thinning.

I wondered if anyone else's teen had similar and what the outcome was.

Is she doing exams at the minute? Could be stress related

She is sitting her mock exams. It could well be that but it's been going on for a good few weeks now.

Hello, my 16 yr old has exactly the same problem and it's so distressing for her. Just come back from the GP who just dismissed it as hormones as the bloods were ok. My poor lass has lost about 30% of her hair since May. I suspect it's stress, she's not enjoying the approach to gcses and is fretting that she doesn't know what to do post 16. I'm not finding anything useful on line except ads for expensive products, which I would happily buy if I thought they might work. I hope things have improved for your daughter and if you found anything helpful I would love to hear from you.
