How long should a local anesthetic take to wear off?

I've got a dislocated finger.

Minor injuries tried 3 times today to put it back, including a lot of brute force under a local anesthetic for the last attempt.

The final xray showed it's better but not fixed and I have an appointment at the hand trauma unit (who knew that was a thing?!) later in the week.

Meantime, they've put it in a splint and told me to leave it on until the appointment.

The injections were at about 1pm. The finger still feels numb, but now it's in that the bandage is too tight kind of way. It's well wrapped, so I can't see how swollen the finger is or if it's got bigger since the splint was applied.

What should I do?

Depends what local they used and what sort of block they did. Best bet is to get back in touch with the department and ask if they'd still expect numbness from the local/expect numbness due to the injury/are worried about the bandage.

There won't be anyone there until morning though. Is it OK to wait?

They called it a ring block if that helps.

4-6 hours for a local to wear off usually. Can you give them a ring or 111 if you’re concerned?

I'd recommend calling 111. Maybe they've trapped a nerve
