Should I be worried about low iron? That isn’t increasing on iron tablets?

Doctor seems to think answer is to keep taking tablets as iron levels are stable (they are 27)

I haven’t actually spoken to a doctor but had this relayed via receptionist. Would you ask for an appointment to discuss ?

It can take a while for iron levels to increase so I'd bear with it and see how you go, no real need for an appointment unless you're really still feeling severely symptomatic. And make sure to take them alongside something with vit C to help the absorption

They say 27 is ok but actually it's pretty low. If you get symptoms if breathlessness, heart racing, itching skin push for an appointment.

Try more gentle iron than the dr gives you if you have any problems with you.

Feroglobin is a good one.

Thank you. I wasn’t sure how bad 27 was. I have been taking gentle iron from Holland and Barrett as the nhs tablets didn’t agree with me at all.

The gentle iron will not be enough to raise your levels. Have you been taking one or two a day?

Just one

It should be at least 80. I'm struggling too. I got some ferrous gluconate but they aren't really doing much so I have a phone appt booked with GP.
I would try something stronger and take with vit c. Give it 3 months then get bloods rechecked
