What's happening to my fingers?

Can anyone tell me what's going on with my fingers? I've included pictures of my left and right little finger to show the difference. This has now happened to my index finger, literally overnight, looks like swelling on my knuckle but I can't feel any fluid build up. No pain, just a bit stiff but I use my hands a lot and I have done this week. I'm a hair stylist and do lots of DIY/gardening too.
I'm 55 if that's relevant, no health issues (that I know about). Any ideas?

Rheumatoid arthritis?

Hadn't thought of anything like that, I will check symptoms. Guess I've used my hands and fingers for years due to hairdressing so it's a possibility. Thanks

Looks like it might be after seeing some photos online 🙁

Arthritis would be my guess too.

Mine look that. Osteoarthritis.

Thanks everyone, I will attempt to book a GP appointment.

Did either of your parents have arthritis in their fingers?

They look like Bouchard's nodes from osteoarthritis.

freeandfierce · 23/06/2024 22:26

My Mum has it in her fingers.

Unfortunately now you do too Sad

My DM has it in her and my GM before that. It's very heritable.

Yes, it looks like osteoarthritis.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's much your GP will / can do. Advice to me was just to take pain killers if needed and keep fingers mobile with exercises.
