Costochondritis

Hi, I was just wondering if you anyone has suffered with Costochondritis? The pain started for me over a year ago and was really bad at first but got better as time passed after several months of rest and seeing a physio. Till this day I still get flare up’s, would this be normal more than a year later? I’m a very active person and I find that I can’t push myself like I used to as any little thing will trigger a flare up and lasts a couple days. If anyone can share their experience and any guidance/tips that will be great. Will it be a matter of managing the pain and making sure I’m not doing things to trigger it?

I had it and cured it (although get occasional flare up if I slouch loads). Highly recommend this half egg thing you lie on called a back pod - it stretches your spine out and makes the pain go away. It’s
from a physio in NZ but I got mine second hand on ebay. I need to dig mine out again actually - it’s coming back as I’m pregnant and my boobs are huge and making me arch my shoulders too much.

yes!! I was diagnosed about 1 1/2 years ago- got flair ups often but not as regularly anymore. I noticed mine gets worse after lifting heavy things- my GP said “how long is a piece of string?” When I asked how long this will last.

Hey yeah I noticed it about 5 years ago / felt like I couldn’t breathe but they diagnosed it after doing an x ray

it comes and goes occasionally - sometimes when I’m tired or stressed

but it’s been. Lot better

Have you tried using ibuprofen gel on the area when it flares up?

Hi @Wednesdaysotherchild, thank you for your help and recommending this product. I’ve read some reviews and it looks like it has helped a lot of people with the same condition. I’m tempted to purchase even though it’s a bit pricey and see if it actually works. How does it work, is it like a massage device?
