I would think this is fine CF...........but im not a medic. Try calling NHS direct. Or your drs surgery for some advice they should be still open.

Is he still complaining or is all well ?

cheeryface · 08/04/2008 17:29

I understand your panic.....my dd aged 9 months nearly went blue choking on a piece of food and I was out the front door and half way up our neightbour's drive ( she is a nurse )...........fortunately she was fine buts its very frightening.

My brother swallowed a charm form my braceley when he was anout 18 months and it just re appered in his nappy!

I would monitor him for any tummy pain and maybe give ime a dose of calpol to sleep with and I am sure he will be fine.

oh right...off you go then. keep us posted.

GOOD LUCK!

SlightlyMadSweet · 08/04/2008 17:56

Don't expect them necessarily to do anything.

My brother swallowed the bit that seals a ring pull (you know the sharp bit that bends into the can).

Went to A&E and was told...."we could XRay you, but what with cutbacks and all, and it would you would avoid XRay exposure" . Having said that he was an adult (about 20ish) at the time and it doesn't mean it was right,.

I ahd a fishbone stuck in my throat a few years ago. Went to A&E and they took it out with very long tweezers. Hope your DS Ok, it's really uncomfortable.

mummypoppins · 09/04/2008 09:54

How did you get on cheery face ?

cheeryface · 09/04/2008 13:17

well, i got there, explained to the triage nurse that he had now swallowed it down, but had still been advised to bring him to A & E.

sent us to the waiting room for 3 HOURS

only to be seen by a doctor who did , well, nothing...

felt his tummy as he had tummy ache by now but said he was fine and sent us home, said to come back if any probs.

dh was ripping mad at me because he thought the advice from nurse at my surgery was ott and we never should have gone and the doctor probably eats crocodile bones in his home country etc etc and moan moan moan

all seems o.k this morning and has gone to school.
