Anyone had Mohs surgery for skin cancer?

Finally having surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma from my nostril on Wednesday and not sure what to expect. Been told I might need a skin graft but might not... Been told I might be in all day... I've seen images of huge bandages and loads of scary looking stitches!

It's a really small BCC - at least what I can see. Just wondered if anyone else has had the same. What was recovery like? Could you work ok straight after? Was the dressing enormous and for how long? Thanks

I had MOHs surgery for a lump on the end of nose last week. It was very straightforward, although mine was only the top bump and first layer removed. Then you wait for it to be analysed. About 90 mins. I didn’t have to have further layers removed as no cancer was found after all! I’ve got a skin tone dressing on for a week and go back Thurs to have the dressing changed. I think it’s just less than 1 cm in diameter in my case so not sure yet if I’ll need a skin graft.
Its not at all painful ( maybe because it’s not too deep) and if I wasn’t retired I’d probably have gone back to work the next day - where a class of 6 year olds would probably have laughed at my “ Pinnochio” nose!
The local anaesthetic going it was a little bit painful but I found it easier than dental injections and extractions!
Hope yours went well
