Keep forgetting words and things after having concussion

Been about 10 days, hope it comes back! I may be going for an interview in a few weeks. Has anyone had this, if so, how long did it last?

Any concussion is a brain injury. Are you still under the care of anyone?

Hadalifeonce · 15/06/2024 15:11

No one can know how long it might last. I had post concussion syndrome after a serious head injury about 10 years ago. I had really bad problems for about 5 years. In fact, I still occasionally have problems with the wrong words coming out. It happens more if I am tired.
The doctor at the hospital did say there is no average time for recovery, and some people never do

I saw a consultant a few days ago and he wasn't concerned, just lots of rest and no screen time to give my brain a rest

It really hurt (bang to the head) but I didn't lose consciousness or have any other worrying symptoms, this symptom has only just started 9 days in...

If this symptom has started after you saw the consultant, go back immediately. It could indicate further swelling and damage. It’s not uncommon after a brain injury but should be closely monitored.

Please go back again, it could be nothing, but on the other hand it could need urgent treatment.
