My Dp had an accident recently and lost 3 of his front teeth.
He and his brother were larking around and his brother picked him up in a firemans lift then fell backward so dp's mouth connected with the kerb! ouch

Anyway a few weeks on and his stiches are out and he's waiting for a dental plate should get it later this week.
He would like to get implants have looked online, but interested to hear from anyone who's had them.
Thanks

Yes, one. Expensive, bit painful afterwards for a few days, but worth it. Tell him he has to be really hot on dental hygiene if he wants them to last; they are a bit more vulnerable than regular teeth - something to do with how the surrounding bone and tissue responds to a foreign body, I think.

Thanks Alva do you mind me asking how much it cost and how long the treatment took?

It cost about two grand (five years ago)... tho prices will vary, I'm sure, and my case was apparently quite complicated (and in London, which can make a difference!) Took a few months all in - they had to fit the implant, let it bed in under a temporary crown, then add the permanent crown. Actual procedure was an hour or so, but done at the specialist's surgery rather than in a dental hospital.

my dh has a front tooth implant. He had his tooth out as it was damaged about 2 1/2 years ago. Because he had a tooth out, his mouth had to heal first. 3 months after they put a peg in and left it. 6 months after the initial tooth extract he finally had the new tooth fitted. Can't tell it from his others. Cost about £2000.

Ouch.

My DH is in the process of having his done at the moment. He's had the rod in, still wears his denture (bless him - I thought it would be quite sometime before he had to have his teeth in a glass by the bed!) and will have the permanent tooth put on in May. Costing about £2,000 for one tooth.

thanks for the info, I wonder if 3 teeth will cost 6000 then? or if you get a reduction, he went for a fitting for his plate on wednesday and came out really down he said it looks awful poor thing.

Aww Unfortunate for your dp. I am presently sporting an attractive denture (front bottom 4, yeagh!) Where I had 4 teeth removed recently. Mine are out due to epilepsy in my past making teeth weak, rest are fine. Yes it is expensive isn't it but from all research I have done I think it's worth it. I'm having a consultation for possible implants in July. CANNOT bear the denture thing. It's so mentally aging!

Mine (1 tooth) cost about two thousand, but really does feel like one of my own teeth. 6 weeks start to finish, 3 yrs ago.

expensive. DH had quotes in region of £14-1800 per tooth, might get a deal on more than one. Told by dentist is the best thing to do, esp if the front teeth. will look and feel just like a real tooth. So you would expect at that price!
