Gum over one tooth red and bleeding?

Dentist appointment already made but they can’t fit me in until July 3rd unless there’s a cancellation 🙄 and it doesn’t seem like an emergency, but want some advice anyway. I have pretty good dental health, I go to my cleanings and check ups every 3-4 months

Anyway issue is, the gum above my upper molar, next to my left canine, is red. It’s red all the way upwards and is bleeding when I brush. Not too much, just a little bleed. It’s not painful, nothings loose, and it only began the day before yesterday. I’m ill at the moment so not sure if it’s related, or if I got food stuck (flossing didn’t produce anything). It’s a bit swollen as well.

None of my other teeth are affected. Any advice?

I would let the dentist's office know. They might be able to advise you and/or move up your appointment.
Don't know if they have an after-hours line.
In the meantime think I would try a salt water rinse. 1/4 tsp salt in 1/4 c. warm water. Keep very clean but brush gently.
Good luck. Hope resolves quickly for you.

Thank you, I’ll try the salt water rinse. I’ve just been in to brush again after tea and there’s no blood this time. Still red, but not tender or sore. My theory is something was stuck and I got it out earlier when I brushed (I’ve been brushing more since I noticed it).

I did eat some pizza on Monday that had quite a crispy crust. I can’t remember noticing the redness before then so possibly stabbed my self with a sharp piece 🙈
