I’m 43 period has come 15 days early. At first I thought it was just spotting ,very light and pink but as time went on seems to be what I thought an early period but light flow as I’m usually heavy day 3-5 .
Anyway today is day 8 and it’s getting heavier with no signs of slowing down .

I usually take Tranexamic acid to help with heavy flow I will speak to Gp tomorrow. Has anyone had this?

I can feel low iron symptoms coming on now so will start iron tablets. I had smear 3 weeks ago that all came back ok .

I was a little bit younger than you when I had one that lasted for 6 weeks. I spoke to the GP who prescribed something to stop it (nore something, can't quite recall) but it seems that conversation was enough to stop it! I then didn't have another period for 6 months. I started HRT after that and only had one more period.

Iirc blood tests showed an ok iron/ferritin level at the time of the 6 week long one but I took Feroglobin.

I would say if you're planning to speak to GP/ask for blood tests, don't take any supplements until you've done so to give a clearer picture.

Similar here, I'm 44, missed a period in April, started light about 4 weeks ago got heavier then hasn't stopped since, got slightly lighter, I've had a scan and blood tests, smallish cyst on ovary but not sure yet if that's the cause or whether its hormones going haywire, there could be many possibilities, seems to be a slow process finding out.

Yes when I look online there’s no clear answer. I suspect he will start with bloods . 7 days is bad enough the thought of it lasting weeks 🙄 is a bit annoying.

Well I spoke to Gp after him reading my message I sent, he seemed to think I was after info on why period had come early ? Which wasn’t the query really .

It was more this period doesn’t seem to be stopping/slowing down, day 10 now so close after last period .Anyway he didn’t seem to concerned and said I can take my trans acid and see how it goes .

Google tells me any bleeding for 8 or more days should be mentioned and investigated, will see how it goes.

I'd be hazarding a guess that at 43 you might be heading into the perimenopause. It hit me at 44 with the start of erratic, irregular periods after always being like clockwork. Blood tests won't show much, they only show your hormone levels on the day the test was taken. I ended up getting a Mirena coil after putting up with two years of periods with no discernible pattern, and it stopped them completely - I never had another one. It's an option you might want to consider.
