Ok i started exercising in Dec sand started to get some chest tightness.
So i started to have a puff of dds ventolin first and this helped. Then even that stopped helping. Ive occ used ventolin over the years and gp knows this.
Anyway ive now had 3 chest infections since Christmas. 2 weeks ago my breathing was really tight so i saw gp-unfortuntely not my own. He gave me a peak flow diary to keep for a week and a salbutamol inhaler of my own. Its now 2 weeks just gone and i cant get an appt. until wed at 9 10 but its getting worse. I cant even climb the stairs without getting breathless. My peak flows vary from 370 to 250. I seem to average around 320 and last night i could hear my airways literally whisteling ! I am quite aware of my breathing and dont want to get it mixed up with a panic attack which i am also prone too-but my peak flows are down ? When i cant get my breath is it normal to also feel like your heart is beating really loudy ? Sorry for so many questions but i dont want to start treatment for asthma if i havent got it, anf likewise i feel like my chest is getting worse and i need to see gp sooner than wed !

Hellooo .
Thanks for that.
i`m 37 and did smke heavily from 17 to 31 and again for about a year inbetween (rollies ! )..

Am not overweight.
I really dont think i have a tumour-am not that twitched.
Yes the pain has become tender to touch today for first time- so prob muscular and no worse when i breath.
Just wondered why my peak flow is so reduced - esp since i have always been so proud of what i thought was a fantastic lung capacity-i swim every day and can usually go under for 50 metres and love showing this off !
Peak flow is 370 still but thats when i really really try and am rested.

My gp is quite reaonable usually so im sure hell do just what you suggested.I hate taking these tabs but will continue to see if does improve.x

HI, worth making appointment with an asthma nurse. I developed asthma after having dd - probably had it very mildly before that. I take symbicort (currently on 4 puffs x 2 /day as have a rotten cold) - becotide and seritide didn't touch me. I'm also on montelukast. I feel fab now - just like before having the kids. It's taken about a year to find the right combination of drugs for me, but it's really worth it. I had lots of chest infections until I got this combination - i think it is because my lungs were just inflamed all the time. NOw that they're not inflamed I can actually fight off a cold. don't be worried by the medication - once everything is under control you can exercise and do everything as normal - it's fab!

forgot to say, my peak flow is usually 430, goes to 370 if my chest is tight and I'm having problems (but I know to take ventolin before it gets this bad normally) and 320-340 with a chest infection.

hi, yes peak flow and good asthma nurse should let you know whether it's asthma for definite. I don't wheeze at all! he he re peak flow of 500!!! Mind you, my dh has asthma as well and has peak flow of over 700 - he laughs at mine!

Not a big deal if it is asthma, just a case of finding the right drugs. used to only get mine at hayfever season. Have had to correc tlots of spelling in this due to far much wine. Ah well, it is saturday!
