I have applied for pip and chased it today to be told there's a letter in the post

In your experience does a letter generally mean u have been awarded pip pr declined?

The helpline weren't able to tell me what the letter says or weren't able to email me

They will send you a letter whether you have been awarded or declined. they still have to let you know if you are not awarded anything !

TheCheeseThief · 06/06/2024 16:21

Have you had your assessment yet?

greenmario · 06/06/2024 17:33

Check your banking - I had my first payment through before the approval letter even arrived.

beckybarefoot · 06/06/2024 17:36

as above check your bank account... the first i knew I'd been award PiP was a back payment into the bank.

i actually then phoned and asked what/why/how? and they confirmed it had been awarded.

greenmario · 06/06/2024 17:42

Nothing in the bank but I think they said letter was dated 3 June so not sure how soon a back payment would be paid in (if awarded obvs)

If you call the PIP line and go through to speak to someone (I think it's option 6?), it should ask you a couple of automated security questions. If you're due a payment, the automated system should kick in and tell you the amount after you complete these checks.

my pip is due again on 19th June( or thereabouts), its paid every 4 weeks on a wednesday... fingers crossed your letter arrives before that and you will know for sure.

if i recall correctly, i am sure that i also had a text from PiP confirming my award and i phoned because i wasn't sure if it was a scam

Overther · 06/06/2024 17:58

May I ask how long it's been since your assessment? I had mine 5 weeks ago and still waiting

greenmario · 06/06/2024 18:14

@Overther I think I had it about 3 or 4 weeks ago

@MattDamon I think it might be too late now as they closed at 6pm so hasn't given me that option

You can still get that option after 6pm.

When I called and asked for an update they told me there was a letter in the list but they also told me the decision which was that I had been accepted and what rates I would get and when.
