My DH has just been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. He’s in pain. He is only 38 and has a physical job, he isn’t saying anything but I can tell he is worried sick. So am I.

What can we expect please? And any advice for OH of sufferer?

Hi, OP.

I have a similar thing, called psoriatic arthritis. This is also an inflammatory arthritis.

I have benefited enormously from biologics injections. I’m on one called Adalimumab that I self-administer at home (very easy) which helps my associated skin issues (psoriasis) and the psoriatic arthritis.

There is hope.

The treatment however can be harder to access in some areas than others - bit of a postcard lottery according to reports on here.

I’ve also benefited from a Pain Management Programme that my GP referred me to.

Best wishes and good luck Flowers

While it is a lifelong disease, the treatment of RA has changed dramatically in the last 20 years.

He will always need treatment but there is a lot of hope, with treatment he should have it under control for most/all of his life.
