Yucky subject 'sample'

Yes, this might seem immature but I've been asked to provide a sample Blushof the most embarrassing kind, not very nice.
Anyway I'm just wondering if it's commonplace now for it to be done all via post? This is all new to me

Can you elaborate OP? Surely you can actually write down what you mean?

Grendacious · 04/06/2024 16:35

A stool sample? Yes normal to be by post. And nice and anonymous compared to having to carry it into the GP surgery and put it in the sample basket!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 04/06/2024 16:35

Do you mean for something like bowel cancer screening? It's been done via post for years.

You don't need to be so coy on here.

maudelovesharold · 04/06/2024 16:36

If you mean a sample of poo for bowel screening, then yes, it’s done via the Royal Mail!

IWantToBeASleepingCat · 04/06/2024 16:37

Is it a poo sample?
Everyone in the UK over 60.. gets a kit every year for bowel screening.. we pop it in the post.. no problem.
I'm not sure what the problem is?

notapleasantjob · 04/06/2024 16:52

No problem just a question.
Thanks for answers 👍🏻

OP, are you familiar with the slogan 'don't die of embarrassment'?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 04/06/2024 22:22

Don't turn up to the drs with a full turd in an empty icecream container which is what a patient did where I worked.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 04/06/2024 22:36

Yeah. I've done this test via post. Not very dignified but results were quick and I was glad they did it. Not something I would have thought to go into the surgery for.

setitup · 04/06/2024 22:39

To be honest I don’t understand your issue with doing this by post. My GP asked me for a stool sample with a container to take home , extract, and then leave sample at the reception. I didn’t take the sample as I found that embarrassing and a faff and unhygienic having to travel with it by train to physically hand it in. Doing it via post seems so much better in comparison. Do you really think doing it in person is any better?

MummyDummyNow · 05/06/2024 20:04

"Full turd..." made me laugh, sorry! 😂
