Feeling of something in throat driving me mad!

I’ve always had heartburn, this got worse over the last few months and was causing acid reflux to wake me up in the night and occasional vomiting after food. I went to the GP who prescribed Omeprazole 20mg once a day which has worked wonders on the vomiting/burning sensation however since Thursday I have had the sensation that something is stuck in my throat, on the right side. I’ve read up and google suggests that it could be Globus which is quite common with reflux (although I’ve never had this before!)

Could the Omeprazole have caused this? It’s temporarily relieved by eating/drinking so I know that there’s nothing actually there otherwise I wouldn’t be able to eat or drink but it’s driving me a bit crazy! Any tips for getting rid of it?

You need to see your Dr. Any sensation of a lump when swallowing needs investigating. Yes likely to be reflux related but you need looking at and referring if needed.

My husband had this and it turned out to be where the acid had corroded at the back of the throat. So there was like a little sore there which felt like something was stuck.

Is the sensation just when eating? I have reflux and also take omeprazole. I occasionally get a sensation of the food balling up in my throat if its a certain consistency- very fresh bread and chips seen to do it sometimes. Mainly if I don't chew it up enough and don't drink at the same time. I agree you need it checked and can't imagine omeprazole causing it.

When I saw my GP about reflux, they did a H-Pylori test (stool sample) which was positive and can be a cause for reflux. I had a triple therapy course- 2x antibiotics and omeprazole I think. Unfortunately, it didn't make any difference, but worth asking about it because it can stop reflux in some people once treated.

I get this! Just started in the last year just at the start of a meal and with carbs - pasta, pizza, bread. And then I have to wait a few minutes before I can continue - don't take omeprazole though. No idea what's causing it/what has changed.

I do have a follow up with the GP booked next week but it may have driven me mad by then because it’s super annoying 😅

@afaloren it could be this because the acid reflux has been awful and it doesn’t particularly feel like a lump, it’s as if there’s something small like a bit of hair or something there so a small sore would make sense!

@CJ0374 its there most the day but actually disappears briefly when eating and drinking. My Hpylori test came back negative, my other thought was maybe the Omeprazole needed to be increased to a higher dosage (assuming the sensation is reflux related!)
