On Thursday I started with what I thought were the symptoms of hayfever. But as yesterday wore on I felt more and more ill, ending up with me being in bed at 6.30.

Turns out it isn't hayfever but the mother of all colds, it's a long time since I felt this rough, I've been up since 2.30 because I couldn't breathe etc and my chest was feeling really tight etc.

My problem is this:

I've just had 2 week off work due to labrynthitis and don't want to have any more time off.

I'm not back until Wednesday, is there anything I can do to try and get rid of it quicker etc or at least ease the symptoms at work so that I can get through the day

DH got me a spray to stop my nose running, ecinachea, vicks thing with menthol in it to unclog my nose, and benylin cold & flu capsules, different ones for day and night. seemed to get rid of my cold a lot quicker, and interestingly, not had one since and i usually get a cold every 6 - 8 weeks.

also, lots of hot drink..

No advice (other than dose up on paracetamol) but HUGE buckets of sympathy for you as I've had them the other way round (horrible cold first and now labrynthitis)

I would definitely second the echinacea and also zinc is supposed to be the vitamin/mineral most deficient during a cold.

Hope you feel better soon.
