Movicol/Laxido weird effect?

I have been prescribed Movicol type of medication by the GP for long term constipation. It is working so far (a week in to taking it) with 1 or 2 sachets a day.

However I feel like I need to go all the time. I don't actually need to though. My digestive system has been inactive/sluggish for so long that I don't know if this is just that it is waking up. Has anyone else experienced this?

I take 2 sachets a day and have done for 5 years after surgery for Bowel cancer.

I’ve not had your symptoms but as you say, it could just be your body reacting to the medication. I’d try it for a couple of weeks, and if it doesn’t settle down, maybe speak to your pharmacist x

@Borntobeamum thank you for your reply. Sorry to hear you have been through a tough time. I ended up quizzing my husband about his digestive system today which he wasn't that keen on!!

I was prescribed 2 a day but found that was too much for me. I now take 1 a day and usually skip at least one day a week too. I still find that i might end up going when I pee, so that's also my cue to cut back.
