Chronic blepharitis

And I'm slowly losing the will to live.

I've had so many checks by opticians and ophthalmologists but don't seem to get anywhere as I'm not a textbook case.

Symptoms: initially an itchy eyelid followed by a burning sensation which is awful, sometimes a shiny eyelid, feeling of something being in the eye, thinning eyelashes BUT no "typical" crusting.

I use dry eye drops like water. Today I've bought a heat eye mask and some eyelid wipes.

Ophthalmologist has also prescribed steroid drops but frankly seemed so unsure about giving them im nervous given the raise in eye pressure they can cause.

What helps you?! I'm 36 and keep being told I'm very young for this to occur repeatedly?!

Hi , my right eye was feeling very gritty for a couple of weeks , I do suffer occasionally with Blepharitis and bathing with cool boiled water usually helps but on this occasion it was getting worse

I had a thorough eye check up and was told I’ve got dry eye the ophthalmologist gave me Hycason intense eye drops which has helped loads . I’ve been using twice a day and my eye is so much better .

you might have dry eye as your symptoms sound like mine

I'm having simiar trouble with one eye - started as just a small itchy patch, now it's basically the whole eyelid, sometimes swollen, and alternating between shiny, and rough/bit flakey..

I'm using a wipe, then putting really basic moisturiser on it (sudocreme or e45 or neutrogena depending on how stingy it is) - and taking an anti-histamine if I forget and rub my eye after stroking the cat!

It really seems to be that the more I fiddle with it, the worse it is though, so I sleep in an eye mask, and do everything I can to avoid touching it with anything but a wet flannel (or the products I'm using on it)

Do you use Blephasol to clean the eye? It’s the only thing that really helped, alongside all the usual.

Umbrellashire · 30/05/2024 11:52

I use optase. Which really helps

KnickerlessParsons · 30/05/2024 11:54

I use blephasol to clean my eyelids along the line where the eyelashes are, and also preservative free eyedrops. Keeps it at bay.

I have used steroid drops in the past and haven't had any issues with high pressure.

Did you solve this as my bleph is awful this winter?
