Sertraline reassurance

Hi,

I’m currently on day 8 of sertraline, and so far it’s not been too bad. Initial side effects were dizziness, dry mouth and headaches, nausea and loss of appetite. Dizziness has gone though. On the first day after taking the tablet I felt so good around 5-6 hours after! My brain felt calmer - but understand that’s likely a placebo effect. Today I’ve felt exhausted, overly anxious and just generally flat in mood. How long before I’ll be able to feel the effects of this working? I’ve been put on this for anxiety and my constant raging mind. I guess I’m just in a bit of a rut today and looking for reassurance that things will get better 😢

Took me 3 weeks I got so incredibly anxious on it

@wizarddry after those 3 weeks did the anxiety improve? I’m day 9 today and just need to try to keep looking forward

It took me two weeks - first two were horrendous. Incredibly low mood and anxious but then a massive improvement. No brain noise at all. I was happy for about 2 years but then I came off it.... that took about a year to find peace despite very slow withdrawal.

Stick with it could be 6 weeks

Was 2-3 weeks before I felt the benefits but my GP did warn me it could be up to 6-8.

Been on them for about 9 years now and they’ve been a literal lifesaver

Thank you everybody for your responses ☺️ really appreciate it. That’s great to know, im hoping in the next week or so that I’ll start to feel an improvement. I totally understand that it’s not something that’s going to happen overnight but I’m hopeful!
