I got a bad sinus infectiin 2 weeks ago. Doc put me on antibiotics for a week which seemed to clear it up or so I thought. Three days later it was back with a van so doc gave me 5 more days of antibiotics. However thus time my throat is like razor blades and swollen I can’t really eat much or sleep as swallowing hurts. I mentioned to the doc who said keep taking antibiotics and use difflam and gargle etc which I have done I finished the antibiotics yesterday but my throat (while a little less sore) is still very very sore just less swollen Is this normal? I’m miserable can’t even have a cuppa tea

Oh yes! Me! My mum had this first and has had 2 lots of antibiotics. It's still not cleared and they have just done a throat swab. I'm on day 7 and it's not cleared. So odd as a sore throat usually clears up within a couple of days. Maybe an odd virus going round?

In my experience with sinus related sore throats, antibiotics do help. So mine might be different and this might help you less but in case it does.... gargle with oraldene 3-4 times a day - you can actually feel the globs of snot that come off your throat when you do this. And use a nasal rinse twice a day.

Basically for me, the sore throat is from the snot. So getting rid of the snot helps remove the pain.
