Hit my head - now worried!

I was in my hallway on Wednesday & opened my cupboard door & it hit me near the top of my forehead. They’re relatively new doors so the corners are sharp. Sounds like nothing but it was really sore. I initially felt fine. I was slightly off balance afterwards my head was obviously sore but generally okay. There’s no mark but feels bruised inside & tender to touch. Every morning I’ve woke up since I feel so tired like I’m struggling to keep my eyes open all day. My head feels heavy is the only way I can describe it. No amount of caffeine is helping. My head still hurts & I’ve felt slightly nauseous. I went to the doctors on the Thursday checked inside my ears & my blood pressure etc & suggested maybe I was coming down with something after telling her I felt tired & my ears were sore & had been ringing. I have health anxiety so I’ve tried not to panic & go to a&e but I’m still worried I thought I’d feel better by now. Are these symptoms normal after hitting your head?

Sounds like concussion. Take things easy; no screen time, nothing overestimating (noise lights etc) or that requires focus (driving, work). Keep hydrated. Exercise gently like a walk. If you treat it properly at the beginning you should make a full recovery, it can really drag on if you don't. Go straight to a&e if yojr symptoms get worse.

Stupid me once decided to take my fridge door off to change the way it opened. I had taken the pins out but then dropped one on the floor. With the unsecured door on the fridge I bent down to pick up the pin and the door toppled forward onto my head. I saw stars but was able to put the pins back in.

I was so afraid I might die in my sleep from a head injury I wrote a note explaining what had happened and left it on my kitchen table so whoever found me had an explanation of my demise.

I thought I’d start to feel better not worse. I was reading about post concussion headaches. My worry is the pressure I’m feeling is swelling or bleeding especially with the fact I’m so tired I feel like I’ve stayed up all night. I was putting my daughter to bed & started sweating & feeling sick had to take my jumper off

If you are that concerned then defo get it checked out. That said i've had two and the symptoms were very similar including the feeling of pressure and the sleepiness - sometimes in tears clutching my head convinced it must be a swelling brain. Unfortunately symptomes did last many days to weeks but did resolve. As you have children I recommend earplugs so you can limit the noise.

I did phone 111. The nausea became unbearable & still is. Type of sickness you feel when drunk. They did advise to go to a&e but don’t have anyone to sit with kids so will need to go in the morning & take them with me

I went on Sunday morning. Said I had concussion & if I felt worse to go back. I was just about to post on here again as this pressure in my head isn’t going away. I feel like my heads about to burst & scared to bend down or look left & right. My ears are so sore with the pressure. No one has told me what is causing this & I'm worried. I’m waiting on a phone call from the doctor. I thought they would’ve sent me for a scan. I’ve been scanned for less before(my son headbutted me in his sleep) & they scanned me. I’m still so tired & feel sick now & again.

That pressure is horrible isn't it. It sounds typical of a bad concussion but you should get it checked again. You want symptoms.to be getting better and not worse. I cannot stress enough how important quiet and rest are though, and it's almost impossible with kids around. Take a five minute lie down with earplugs for every 15 mins you do something. You cannot overdo it at this point in recovery.

I certainly wasn’t expecting it. I’ve bumped my head loads of times & never felt like this. I’ve not been doing much. A walk to get some shopping & minimal housework. When I’m anxious I can’t rest as such or I just get into a spiral of thoughts & talk myself into a panic attack but I have been doing less. Got an appointment at the doctors this afternoon
