Trapped nerve

Self diagnosing here since I can't get a GP appointment. I think I have a trapped nerve in my neck that affecting down to my thumb
Numbness in thumb, electric shock type pain lifting anything heavier than a can of juice and a general ache/throb that makes me feel a bit sick.
What's the best treatment? Would the GP help much. OTC Pain killers don't touch it.
I've been using heat on my neck/shoulder but makes zero difference

Sorry to hear this op nerve pain is so awful. I would speak to gp to try to get physio referral or self refer if you can in your area.

Gentle exercise can help if it doesn't hurt too much to do it.

Would sleeping without a pillow help maybe?

It's been particularly bad today I almost dropped the kettle.
Certain movements really set it off and I can pretty much pinpoint where in my neck it's coming from.
I can't get a GP appointment for love nor money will try again this coming week
I've got a private physio appointment but not for 2 weeks so hopefully there's something in the pipeline that will help
