Swollen ankles in the evening

I’ve just turned sixty and noticed that if I have been on my feet all day, my ankles swell in the late afternoon and evening.

They also ache quite a lot.

I am 3 stone overweight and I am on beta blockers. But my legs and ankles were really slim up to this point. (My weight is on my tum and norks.)

My legs are are fine again in the morning when I wake up.

Should I see the gp?

I find that my ankles and feet get puffy and swollen if I stand or sit for long periods, especially in warm weather. I'm slightly older than you and a bit overweight. I find that exercising helps hugely. I walk 3-4 miles a day now and my feet and ankles are much better for it (and my legs generally). I imagine that your GP would tell you to move more, it'll help with all aspects of your health, mentally and physically.

Thank you whattodoforthebest2 that’s very reassuring to know that something can be done. I do need to move more!
