Mole biopsy results

hi everyone , I’m looking to know if anyone else has experienced this or know what this might mean? I am so scared!

To cut it long story short a mole appeared on my back less than a year ago , it changed very rapidly , I seen 3 doctors and a dermatologist who told me there is nothing wrong with it. I kept going back to the drs as I was so uneasy about it. I finally got it removed (had to literally beg to get it removed) results came back yesterday

It’s a spitz navus, however they are not actually sure, they suspect melanoma. They are referring me to a dermatologist for the skin to be cut deeper. They are 75% sure it’s a spitz naevus and 25% think it’s a melanoma? I’m so confused how the biopsy didn’t show what it really is.

im scared , terrified to be honest? Anyone experience something similar

thanks x

Hiya, I went through similar 3-4 years ago, including the checks from doctors saying there was nothing to worry about. It was terrifying, but that was the what ifs and catastrophising, particularly in the middle of the night. My best one was at 3am when I woke my partner sobbing that his mother would have to move in to help him, and that he didn’t really like his mother! Anyhow, a dermatologist appointment and operation later all was well, everything removed and no concerns. Far worse has happened since(unrelated), and I promised myself that until I knew the true situation I would stop with the anxiety and the what ifs, as they were what harmed me the most. Be strong, be optimistic it will be the best outcome rather than the worst, and if it’s anything other, well, then you’ll deal with it and carry on with your life, but always being that more grateful for everything and everyone around you. Good luck xxx

I'm not a doc, but apparently a Spitz naevus (which is benign) can look like a melanoma under a microscope. It's good that you will be receiving specialist care.

I have had a melanoma. So I understand how you're feeling. The good news is that you're being seen and will get good care now you're in the system. If they need to take a larger margin away to ensure they've got everything, they will. If it's only appeared recently there's every chance it will be contained if it is malignant. A melanoma that's detected early is highly curable.
