Colonoscopy/plenvu prep q - help

Had no replies on chat so trying here.
Sorry. Grim I know.
2nd colonoscopy on Monday at 9.15. First one was 5 years ago and I used moviprep which I still shudder about. I'm literally dreading the drink and I'm not a wuss at all normally.
I've been told to take my second dose at 6am but that seems too late given I've got to be at hospital just after 9. Don't want to be shitting myself on the way! I've been been advised 6pm and 6am but was wondering whether to do 5pm and 4am?

If its a morning one should you not be taking it the night before? I'm sure that's what the leaflet advises. I didn't have mine in the morning I'm sure that's for afternoon procedures

Depends how far you have to travel to the hospital. You can take your morning dose at 5am if you feel better about that, but 6am will be fine. You definitely don’t take both the night before!

Redglitter · 18/05/2024 19:09

You definitely don’t take both the night before

I definitely did. That was what the booklet said to do

Patcherdog · 18/05/2024 19:41

From what I remember (from being a patient) when I had a colonoscopy in the afternoon, I took the second dose early morning. Another time when I had colonoscopy in morning i took both evening before. This was plenvu. Not sure if you'll be the same.

Have you opened the box of plenvu yet? If not, open it now. There should be several leaflets inside, including instructions for when to take the doses if you have a morning appointment (and another set of instructions for if you have an afternoon one).
I don't want to give you advice that contradicts the instructions, but I'm quite certain that:
For a morning appointment you take both doses the day beforehand.
It's for an afternoon appointment that you take the second dose in the morning.

But as I say, open the box now and read the instructions.

Was probably a different prep. OP needs to follow the instructions they have been given.

Thanks all. The plenvu sachets have just come in clear packaging, not in a box. The instructions from the hodoitsl clearly say 6pm and 6am but online the guidance seems to be earlier than that for a morning appt? That's why I'm puzzled. My previous one was an afternoon and a different prep.

This was exactly what I had surmised from the power of Google. I just want to make sure I'm, ahem, done, by the time I leave.

Mine was for plenvu.

Redglitter · 18/05/2024 22:19

That was the guidelines I followed. Instructions were in the box with the sachets. From memory there were a lot of pages
