Gum Pain Root Canal

I had a root canal on Wednesday and my gum is really painful and sore by the tooth I had done. Is this normal?

Is it where you got the injections? I'd expect that to be a bit sore for a bit.

@GentleSloth try salt water rinses and take some pain relief. My gum was sore for a while after a deep filling and the salt water rinse helped a lot. Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Did they clamp your tooth? It could be soreness from that. HSW rinses are fab, also take an anti inflammatory if you are not allergic/doesnt interfere with other meds.

If it's not getting better by Monday morning call the dentist.

@goingdownfighting they did - as I think they did a ‘rubber dam’? If that’s what it’s called! I’m not sure if worse cause I’ve poked at it a bit with my tongue (accidentally)

Hopefully that's what it was and it can be mighty sore. Other things it could be is the temp filling could be irritating the gum or a gum infection amongst other things. Try keeping it very clean, the hsw rinses and pain relief and see how you go. If you get any swelling of the face or under your tongue or throat call 111
