Think I have tonsillitis

I've had a cough,runny nose and bad sore throat for 5 days now. It hurts to swallow and I'm feeling crap. On looking at my throat last night my tongue is grey and back of my throat has white dots. Should I call NHS 111 as never had this before

Yes call 111 they should be able to give antibiotics.

My understanding is the white dots indicate a bacterial rather than viral infection. So yes, antibiotics.

Not in the UK here- in Oz you'd have to wait to get to a GP for a script. Hope you can get some sooner than later.

Give them a call but do the usual (I’m sure you are) so paracetamol every 4-6 hours and ibuprofen every 8 hours. If you alternate them you will get a steady peak of pain relief.
Drink lots of fluids.

Be aware, that you may NOT need antibiotics as this will get better on its own and could be viral in nature.
Don’t have the expectation that you will automatically be supplied with this medication.

Antibiotics will speed up recovery by hours only and could cause other problems not least antibiotic resistance.
