Leukocytes in urine

Helllooo thought I'd pop on here out of curiosity.

I had a dull stomach aches and frequent urination with a tiny bit of discomfort but not stingy.
I handed a urine sample on Monday but still no results through as of yet.

I bought some dip sticks from Amazon and taken a test and leukocytes are light pink with purple speckles so not to sure if it's one maybe brewing.
Just wondered if anyone ever had this sort of result before ?

Picture below is my test and then a picture of the tests I bought

Leukocytes can just be contamination if you didn’t do a totally clean capture or if you checked the first bit of urine out, rather than a mid stream test. The strips also change colour if you read them after a few minutes, rather than quite quickly. They actually change colour if you leave them out and don’t even dip them in anything, so you really do need to read them within a minute.
Nitrates though would be a huge indicator of infection.

I always seem to have leukocytes in my urine... can be a sign of infection but not always. Best getting sample to doctor to send off for culture /growth.

Bluestripeddress · 17/05/2024 17:35

looks to me like you may have some blood too…..6th one down. I think you have an infection

Treecreature · 17/05/2024 17:51

I suffer repeat UTIs - I tend to get leukocytes, bloods and proteins showing up maybe 12-24 hours before nitrites show up. Edited for spelling.

@TooManySweetTreats

I've got them in the tub they came in and checked within a minute of putting the dip stick in the urine.

Thankyou for yous reply ☺️

@ad123456

It's so frustrating because I've waited since Monday , phone on Wednesday and nothing was there yet then phoned again today and still nothing. I just feel a bit lost on what to do now as it's the weekend , and the more I'm waiting If I have got a to I could be making it worse

Yes looks like an infection

As its Friday night i would go to a pharmacy that can prescribe for a urine infection (not everyone does this)
Or if not i would contact 111 and get some antibiotics

Cr20 · 17/05/2024 22:19

@Bluestripeddress

I think it must just be this picture , blood does appear on it but only if I've left it out for to long that it's dried in but in the first 2 mins nothing appears

Hi
Do you have a minor injuries unit near you - they may check, and take samples.

Cr20 · 18/05/2024 09:36

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator
I live in Glasgow so I'm sure there might be one near by , I phoned my parmacy this morning and was told they can't give me an antibiotic over the counter because the doctor hasn't given me a prescription. Just don't want to leave it over the weekend

Do you have out of hour docs - what about a private consultation - the online ones cost about from 50 quid not sure re face to face - good luck

IMO, the minor injuries unit would be best and one near to us have prescribe anti-biotics -- but look up the out of hour doc surgeries

good luck

Update **

I phoned the pharmacy on Saturday about getting a antibiotic over the counter but because I hadn't got a prescription from the doctor they weren't able to give me any. They were able to look into my records and there wasn't any sign of my urine even been tested or sent to the lab so unsure what happened after me handing one in.

I phoned back today demanding a phone call back from the doctor which I did but not even from my own practice or got seen to but he's treating the symptoms as a utj and giving me an antibiotics and if symptoms don't change I've to hand a urine sample into the doctors again
