Wisdom tooth

Need help please!

Just been to the dentist after I felt my wisdom tooth on the back right side was cracked.

He confirmed it's fractured and asked me if I wanted a temporary filling in it but wants to ultimately extract it.

For a fractured cusp, a filling is usually sufficient and that's what he offered but why does he want to extract it at all? I've not had any pain etc.

I'm just so mindful as I've been a victim of unnecessary dental work before.

Thank you!

i’d prefer it out. Last thing you want is an infected wisdom tooth. They’re also large and can impact the rest of your teeth/not fit properly in your mouth.

Didn’t you ask him why he wants to take it out?

No I just kind of thought people get rid of their wisdom teeth and assumed that is why he wants it out, especially now it's fractured.

In hindsight, I should have asked.

I may just have to get rid as he said
