How many of your 5 a day do you think you're eating?

I'm on a mission to increase my fruit and veg intake. I'm averaging about 7-8 different fruits or veg at the moment and have done for about a month.

On an average day, how many do you think you eat?

I try and eat very healthily - but I do a lot of exercise so my portion sizes are massive and therefore my fruit/veg intake is insane. I tend to have 4/5 pieces of fruit or veg with every meal so average about 12-15 pieces of fruit or veg a day and I always have one 'mumsnet salad' which helps bump it up!😄

Breakfast: Fruit/Yoghurt with granola so lots of raisins + seeds/dried berries. Usually a whole banana + half a pack of Strawberries + half a pack of raspberries. So 4(ish) there once you include the dried fruits/raisins etc

Lunch: Big salad - So tomatoes, cucumber, olives, an entire red onion, usually half a pepper, half an avocado, mango, herbs (parsley/mint), spinach, radish. So 10(ish) there?

Dinner: Steak with veg (broccoli, sweet peas, carrots and bean sprouts) each about 100G of veg. So 4 there.

I think if you're averaging 7-8 you're doing well! I think most people probably don't even hit their 5 a day but the 'new' thing is 30/40 plants a week, but that includes things like Chickpeas, lentils, beans etc...

Not enough. Maybe 2-3 on an average day. I do have 5 sometimes but not often.

I hate fruit so don't eat any of that but eat loads of veg and salad.

Brekkie - omelette with mushrooms, onions, peppers, spinach, olives.

Lunch - sandwich full of salad, or a big tuna/egg salad with cucumber, lettuce, spring onion, beetroot, rocket etc.

Dinner - beef chilli or similar with mushrooms, peppers, spinach, chickpeas, kidney beans, and any other veg suitable in the fridge/cupboard to bulk it out.

or chicken with broccoli, cauli, peas, sweetcorn.

stiry fry with loads of veg.

It varies but not nearly enough.

Sometimes I make home made soup, stir fry or a vegetable pasta sauce but other days it is just some lettuce and tomato on my sandwich and a couple of kiwi fruits.

I wouldn't mind joining some kind of fruit and veg challenge.
