My periods have been irregular, I wonder if heavy periods is a norm during Perimenopause. it can last over 7 days. Last time it was 13 days.

Throughout my life I had irregular periods and bam they stopped exactly a year ago . The strange thing was a year before they ceased I was having a period every three to four weeks , extremely heavy , and change of pads constantly all day for the first two three days . You know they are coming to an end , in my case anyway, because all of a sudden they go to literally spotting and then nothing . Hope this helps a little , until others put their experiences up . 😊

Hiya, thanks. Last month was my worse. No sleep at all, day and night. Thank goodness I didn't need to go to work. Up and down changing and going to the toilet. Can you remember the last period before your menopause. Was the period red, dark and runnier? I am waiting patiently. At the moment I am tired all the time , and changes in my body. Few months ago I was diagnosed with anemia.
Thanks.

Desperately hoping I am heading for the end. Going through the highest absorbency lilets and size 6 always pad both in 2 hours and losing blood clots that can fill my hand. Am nearly 45 but my mum bled till over 55. I am anaemic and just feel so lousy during the 8 or so days of bleeding and the week afterwards. I feel your pain. Quite literally - the stomach cramps and back ache are a nightmare too!

Hi sendismylife, have you tried Tranexamid acid? It helped me this month. I should have gone to the GP a few years ago for this. Only decided to take it this month. I was losing a lot of blood, clots all the time. I assumed it was normal. Got the internet, but didn't check why. Took some Iron supplements, but still feel tired all the time. GP says my RBC is normal now. My skin is not as dry and my heartbeat is not pounding when I walk up the stairs. But my eyes and ears are not the same as before.

I had a total hysterectomy a few years ago - at the point they agreed it, I'd bled continuously for 2 years with flooding, daily and nightly. After 3 months of continuous bleeding I went to the GP and they gave me tranexamic acid, then the pill, then the coil, none of which helped, so was referred for the op. I am in no way suggesting you should suffer, am merely answering your question.

@Harmonyrose My last period was literally brown staining ; obviously old blood . I was anemic and remember having an insatiable urge to eat ice , had this during my pregnancy as well. I know from a number of friends that they all had extremely heavy periods coming up to the menopause. I’ve been lucky in that apart from the odd hot flush I am coping with menopause. I would suggest getting some supplements to get you ready for menopause as I wish I had . Things like hair , skin bones and muscles need that extra bit of help during the peri menopause and I am only taking now after watching the likes of Davina McCall about her journey . Hope you start to feel better soon 😊

Thanks for the post girls.
Nice to have advice and help here. I have started to have hip and back feeling. No pain or bad aching. An unusual feeling. Also my stool is much soft, lighter then dark. In Feb,March I had urgency to pee quickly. Now is fine.
One friend went through Peri like a breeze, didn't feel anything or symptoms. Lucky her! Some friends and colleagues had symptoms, HRT, hot flushes and different symptoms. Can't wait for this to end! I have brought Vitabiotics Wellwoman 50+. I wonder if this ok? Haven't started yet. I also need something for joint health too.
Chat soon. 😉
