Heartburn / Funny Throat

I’ve always been prone to heartburn/indigestion however the last few months it’s been everyday and I’m popping rennies like sweets to no avail. The heartburn, cough, weird taste in mouth is so bad I couldn’t even lie back flat to get my eyebrows waxed last week which is annoying and embarrassing! I’ve also been vomiting after eating too which instantly relieves the heartburn but is rather unpleasant. Rennies are working for a short time but I’m going through multiple packs a week. My throat just feels odd- I feel like I’m about to vomit every time I cough/yawn and brush my teeth and I’m not particularly having trouble swallowing but it’s feels like food only goes down one side of my throat and I have a constant need to clear my throat if that makes sense even though there isn’t anything there. I think it’s setting off my asthma too.

I’ve been to the doctors a few times and they keep telling me to adjust my diet, lose weight (I am trying!) but nothing really helps. I went back to the GP today and she’s agreed to give me a month of lansoprazole to try. I was kind of hoping for a referral to the hospital for an endoscopy or something to rule out anything sinister but that could just be me being anxious as I have a family history of cancer of the oesophagus and stomach cancer which I imagine is unlikely at 31! Can plain old heartburn really cause this much bother?!

Hi OP
I'm in the same boat as you but older-45. Yes I'm afraid plain old heartburn can be vile and cause a lot of discomfort. See how you get on with the Lanprozole it's not worked for me but I'm going to try Omprozole next. I do find eating smaller meals and eating earlier massively helps. I'm also looking to have a endoscopy if the Omprozole doesn't work but from everything I've tried/been told heartburn can be very uncomfortable more than you'd ever think.

Can you line up an appointment for a month's time?
With that family history and several months of symptoms, I would be pushing for an endoscopy in case the lansoprazole doesn't work.

Sounds like maybe a hiatus hernia?

I get this and take esomeprazole 40mg daily
I've had the camera down my throat and thankfully there was nothing wrong
