Tonsillitis - gross photo alert

Does this look like run in the mill tonsillitis or something more? I suffer a good several times a year, but this seems so much worse than usual. I am in agony. I'm already on antibiotics, do I make an appointment or wait it out? Thanks in advance

Ouch just seems like tonsillitis to me ! Give the antibiotics 48hrs to kick in and take painkillers hope you get well soon

Looks like normal tonsillitis. If antibiotics aren't working within 48H, go back. I had a bad case of strep about 8 years ago, felt like I was swallowing razor blades, I needed a second course of ABs but it did go!

Can you find difflam spray anywhere? It's been a few years since I had a throat infection but that used to be excellent.

Aww looks like tonsilitis, seems to be a lot of it around at the moment.

Thanks all, I actually get tonsillitis between 6-8 times a year but apparently that's not enough to remove them, and this particular case has me on my arse. I've never been this unwell from it or in so much pain, it's honestly like the worst case of flu and even moving my head makes my neck hurt. I am thoroughly fed up.

This looks like normal tonsillitis to me too, but normal tonsillitis can be absolutely horrible. I have it semi-regularly and also had a bout that absolutely floored me last month, took two lots of antibiotics to completely go. It can be really nasty. However there’s also a chance it could turn into quinsy so keep an eye out for it getting worse and head back to the doctor.

Looks like tonsil stones to me. Can you push them and pop them out. My son had these and had his removed. He was an adult when this happened.

They aren't tonsil stones, I get those all the time. This is pockets of pus. Tonsil stones also don't make you feel unwell.

Has anyone else found that the white spots have gone then come back whilst still on the antibiotics?

How are you feeling today OP?
